Speaker Faculty

The main speaker was Professor Dr. Monzer Kahf. Having written over 25 books ad booklets in English and Arabic, ad over 0 pamphlets in both languages, Dr. Monzer Kahf has specialized in work that has mainly focused on Islamic finance and economics. In addition, Dr. Kahf has been working and training people in the field.

His employment experience includes work as a research economist for the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from 1985-1999. He also has done financial consulting, auditing and instructed classes at the School of Business in the University of Damascus.

Dr. Kahf has organized and conducted many training courses at IDB, IRTI, commercial Islamic banks and other banking institutions in several countries in the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia and West Africa. He has also trained people in Islamic Economics, Zakah and Awqaf in Asia, Africa, Europe the Middle East and North America. He has been aninvited trainer in Islamic banking, finance, and economics by several national and international training and teaching institutions in many countries. He has also been a collaborating expert at the Islamic Fiqh Academy of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and member of several of its technical and methodological committees on Shai’ah and economics.

Dr. Kahf has been awarded the IDB Prize for Islamic Economics, 2001 and President of Syria Award for best University Graduating Student, July !962.

Dr. Kahf is now retired and is living in Westminster, CA. He is fluent in English, Arabic and French.
